Anyone have any tricks for getting a stair arrow to appear differently on a short stair?

I have a 4 riser stair (2 feet total vertical) that is displaying with only a down arrowhead (no leader) placed off of the stair on the high side. It displays this way regardless of how I control levels and offsets.

Ideally I want it to show with an "Up" designation, leader and arrowhead.

I know I can resort to manually placing a text object and leader--just checking in to see if it is possible within the stair controls.

With 6.0 I believe you can use a separate cut plane for the stair to alter the display behave. Don't know if it will give you what you describe but it might? Check out the new feature: Plan Regions

Just wondering if there's been any solution to this problem.

I'm facing the same situation now and I'll probably end up just drawing the arrow with detail lines.

As Steve mentioned above, if you place a plan region that is at, or near, the top level of the stair, you will get a break line and an Up arrow / Up text.

It's still that dinky little Stair arrow though, so personally I would just draw an arrow any way.
