Cover Sheet

I am making a cover sheet with a 3d view of my custom home, keyed notes and sheet description. I made a new family called keyed notes and inserted it into my project. When I went to get the keyed notes by the component under the modify tab, it shows that I can not do that. The dimensions and text are the only two I am able to use. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to correct the problem?
