I've been having some problems with some of the older drawings and their file sizes. They are getting to be over 1M and I can't figure out why. I've tried purging them and blocking them but nothing works. If someone can help it would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Tommy

does 'purging' include deleting layer filters? hmm, there was something about anonymous blocks that I should be remembering? need more caffeine... sorry...

Also, use the -PURGE command at the command line. Note the dash at the front end of the command. This gives you the 'Regapps' option (a throwback to older versions of ACAD). If a third-party program has touched the drawing file, it could have put its own applications into the dwg. This is especially so if you get a dwg from an outside source -- you don't know where it's been.
BTW: I learned this at CAD Camp (http://www.cadcamp.com/home/default.asp) (shameless plug).

Hi
Have a browse of the following thread in the AutoCAD FAQ (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=189) Forum -
The drawing file size if large, but there is hardly anything in it. (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=16340)
Have a good one, Mike

I downloaded Robert Bell's lisp routine and it helps but the file sizes still seem a little larger than they should, I am only finding a few layer filters in each one. I also tried to audit the drawings but nothing is found so I dropped the ISAVEPERCENT down to 0 to see what happens.
Thanks for your help,
Tommy

I JUST GOT AUTOCAD 2005 INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER. WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THE LAYERS DIALOG BOX, SOMETIMES IT TAKES MINUTES EVEN IF I DONT HAVE MANY LAYER CREATED. IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LAYER FILTERS, IS THAT WHATS BOGGING ME DOWN.
I WAS ALSO WONDERING, IS THERE AN EASY WAY TO FIND RECENT POSTING THE FORUMS THAT I HAVE RESPONDED TO OR POSTED. I AM NEW TO AUGI AND HAVING A HARD TIME NAVIGATING. I FEAR I WONT FIND THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IF I CANT FIND IT

Hi
First - please turn off your "Caps Lock" when composing a post... posts written all in UPPERCASE give the impression of shouting.
