1 - Create the phase needeed (ie: existing, demolition, new construction)
2 - Create all floor plan and all elevation for existing phase
3 - Duplicate the floor plan and set the phase to demolition
4 - Add the elevation symbol for demolition phase
5 - Duplicate the procedure for any other phase

Hey there,

Templates are very nice time savers indeed. I know that I have my main "Remodel" template set similarly to what you listed in that it includes and existing, and demo view template. I also have one for new projects which include out of the ground work, ie: no demo views. This template doesn't have an "existing" plan view; however, it does have an "existing" site plan view set up. You can have more than one template depending on your type of work. (The draw back to having more than one is, as I am just now finding out, is that I have to udate more than one template when I learn or add something new.)

My main templates include:
Remodel
New
Tenant Improvement
Site Development

Now that I have learned a few new CD techniques (basics for many, I'm sure) I think I will go back to having just one main template. It doesn't take that much work to create whatever new views are needed depending on the project.

For what it's worth, I just proof read this and have now decided that I don't think I have good grip on templates yet! Can't wait to see your other responses.

Good Luck
Steve

You could create ONE template with all the views for the different projects and then just delete the views you don't need when you start a new project. I find it easier to take out what I don't want rather than to have to recreate settings. I am still testing what's best.

I personnaly customize the Browser display instead of deleting stuff. Want me to put the template on ?

Oh yes, what kind of customization do you use with the browser ?
I like to have the plans organized by levels then by scale but the elevations and sections got an '???' on the browser for level (quite normal but a Little bit painful to have that unnecessary node).
To avoid this I'm trying now to name the plans drawing with their level at first 3 letters (ie 01-First floor annotated) and to organize the browser tree by name on the 3 first letters then by scale. So this works fine also with elevations (east-main_entrance...)....

Tell us how you use this browser customization for yourself.
