Hi,
I wonder how to create a sloped wall in elevation?
Thank you,
Florin

One way is creating an InPlace Component, but then you will need to cut openings into it and jump some hurdles to add doors and windows.
Another way is to create a mass which has your desired slope, then create a curtain system. With this curtain system(make sure it has no grids), just then select the panel (keep hitting TAB until the panel is selected) turn it into a solid panel. Modify the solid panel to have the properties you want with the thickness and offset. Now, to have windows and doors treat it like you would a normal curtain wall (creating grids, then modifying the panel to be what you want: glazing, solid, doors, etc)
Currently, walls sloped in section (or popularly called tapered walls) are not supported.
I hope any of this helps.

Also possible to make it as a stteply pitched roof component... although this obviously results in (roof based) openings behaving as they would in roof...
...depends on what you want to achieve - post an image of some kind if you still need more pointers...

How about just editing the profile of that wall ?

Daniel, you are onto something!!! I now think he just meant to slope the wall in elevation...not section.
This would mean I am sounding like an old gong!!!!
I would give you some rep points for clearly reading the guy's post....something I should have done before posting an answer to a different question...

Could have been worst... could have tell the guy to go fill with water, then add coffee. :D

maybe Florin will clarify, but I didn't think editing the profile of the wall is what was meant either... but then again maybe it was...?

Hi,
Sorry.
I mean sloped wall in the section view not in elevation (I know I can edit the profile)
Thank you all,
Florin

That's not a 3D solution though

if we create a in place object of the wall family, it accept door's and windows, without the need to do openings on it.

Are you wanting a wall that is pitched out of plumb? Both sides? Are you wanting to show various material layers in section?

Fernando, I knew you weren't a newbie, but when you wrote this I thought you were mistaken...but I am mistaken....my apologies!!!
Hurray!!!! you can add doors and windows to InPlace Wall families!!!! Yeah!!!! I won't sleep tonight!!!
When did this happen? I always tried to add it in plan, and never tried in 3d, but it works!!!
Fernando, I gave too many REP points out today...but wait for me tomorrow, you deserve definately some points!!!!
Peace,

luigi, not to be the bearer of bad news...but I think it's been since 5.0 that you could do this....maybe earlier! :-)

and just to dig up an old thread...I have a sloped (canted, tapered etc) in section and need to embed a storefront wall. I cannot seem to be able to do this.
And in fact, by using the in-place family wall option, and even with a simple extrusion, wont allow the storefront to cut the host wall.
Anyone with any ideas?

Embed only works for system walls unfortunately.
You'll need to use a void to cut the curtain wall opening in this case.

bugger, thanks again BG
The next thing you are going to tell me is that I cannot have more than 2 mullion angles in curtain walls either.

You can use the pick walls function on slope sided mass objects from V 8.1 I beleive.

Yup, you can.

Not like this I don't think so.....not with 3 mullions in different directions. 2 yes, but not three. Please, please prove me wrong!
Edit: I think I replied to your statement a little wrong. But I still don't see how you can do this and embed the curtain wall wall?
