Copy area to clipboard

Is there a way that I can have the area command copy the value directly to the clipboard?
I always want to paste the value into an excel spreadheet. Would be nice if I had the value automatically go to the clipboard.

It's not the best answer, but...

I use a product called M8 Multi-Clipboard Version 7. (freeware version)
It tracks 30 clips from just about anything.
After the Area is printed just highlight and CTL-C as many as you need.

That doesn't look free to me, it says 60 day trial. Besides, I am looking to bypass the entire highlight/copy steps. I merely want to select the object and then invoke a paste command.

There's a "freeware" version out there... but since it's no help...
