View Full Version : Best practice for elevations???

I'm working on a residence with stepped (in plan) massing. It sits on a sloping site. The elevations on the uphill side looking so to speak "downhill" thus show grade obscuring part of the house. A stepped (in plan) elevation is how I would have done this in 2D autocad days.

Does 6.0 include stepped sections?

How does anyone else handle this situation?

Gracias!

Christopher,
R6 does not have the ability to do stepped section, only plan views.
The easiest way to eliminate the uphill portion of the site is to go to any plan view, highlight the arrow portion of the elevation tag, and drag the clipping plane close to the building face. The only area 'below grade' will be the portion of the site under the building.
If there is something that needs to be shown in elevation that would be below grade at the face of the house (eg, the building is on pier footings and steps down the face of of the slope at the front and back) then you could use a series of sections cropped and 'glued' together on a sheet.
In cases such as this I always like to show the line of grade at the property line as a dashed line drawn in over the building elevation.
