I have encountered a difference in the way rel. 14 and rel. 2006 handles line spacing pacing between the lines) when using same modified SHX file.

It seems when using Text/Dtext with text height of 1 (Decimal); r14 would put the spacing at roughly 1.7 while 2006 puts it at 1.5

I am unsure in what rel. 2000-2004 that this first occured in. However, due to the fact that so much work has done in the 1.7 spacing it's very troubling to think of changing the text spacing to 1.5.

I have been able to adjust the Line Feed "LF" in the shape file but still cannot figure out how to adjust the spacing for additional lines. I'm unsure if when use the compile command changes are in effect with restarting Autocad. Even if I could modify the font to make it work for the new releases it would mean If I go back to r14 the spacing would
not be 1.7. And the same goes for r12!!!

Yes, r12 still lives and produces drawings and has pretty good reference manuals (somewhat outdated now) that came with the disks upon purchase. Not to mention all the 3rd party software that won't work in newer releases.

The only work around I see is to use Mtext and force the spacing but so much depends on text insert point being bottom-left @ the beggining of the text and not top-left @ the beggining of Mtext...sigh

I'm afraid this latest release is just another feable effort to get me using the newer releases. I wonder if I can raise my rates and produce less work. :p

Maybe there's somthing I'm over looking, It's been 15 years since I had to deal with the line spacing issues of SHP files. Any Help would be appreciated.

P.S. what happened to the dialog box for editing single line text??? I'm having to retype the whole %%### instead of just replacing one character i.e. %%201 to %%202 It seems now to be in drawing editing.. kinda like Mtext. and I'm having to try and read text on all different angles.

Thanks for all your enjoyable reading material for these past few days on all the various Threads I visited while searching for previous problems like this.

I was so impressed I became a member...

Under properties for a piece of MText, there is an option for line spacing. It defaults to "at least" and can be changed to "exact". This might make at least MText closer to what you want.

Hi

For MText line spacing take a look at the system variable TSpaceFac and TSpaceType.

For different Text Editor options in AutoCAD 2006 take a look at the following threads -

Thanks to your immediate response all the above issues have been solved in the time it took me to grab some lunch.... :)

Except the the non existance of new reference manuals.

I guess what really helped alot was when I started Autocad to change the DTEXTED variable to 1 and notice the new changes I was trying to make to the shape file.

I guess after compiling to SHX I needed to fully close and restart Autocad for the new changes to take effect.

*0A,5,lf
2,8,(0,-35),0 -35 turns out to be 1.6667, which is close to recommended spacing.

Thanks again, and take care...you deserve more of those green boxes next to your name.

Is there any settings like these for MText when using the leader command?
