Is it possible to create sweeps that do not have a constant section in Revit?

For example, creating Dentils and the ornate decoration that are part of a classical cornice such as this one http://architecture.about.com/library/bl-dentil.htm ?

A much simpler version of what I would like to do initially is what is shown on the attached PDF.

Many Thanks

I've used arrays to do this kind of thing in the past, mostly in in place families but you could set up a wall hosted family if needed.

I did a very similar detail, and the only way I could come up with was as a railing using balusters as the panel.

I just use an arrayed generic model(non wall based, the wall based ones have problems when you get to the corners and you can't easily copy them.

Hi Scott, really nice images BTW, are these in-place families or just generic components and what impact does using generic models have on the file size. I read somewhere in another thread that using in-place families tends to bulk up the size of the file.

NOT in place. nothing that repeats should ever be an in-place family.

I work for an Architects who specialise in conservation work and am trying to pursuade them to look at Revit whilst learning it in the trial version. I would be extremely grateful if you could send me a Revit file such as the one that the image is from so I could show them that classical architecture can be done in Revit.

Thanks for everyone's input on this thread.

I didn't know that there were any Revit practices in Manchester, do you mind saying which one you work for?

Hi adj, I don't work in Manchester thats where I'm from, the practice I work for is based in Leigh, a town just outside of Wigan and we just use Revit. Are you based in Manchester?

Regards, Paul.

I live in Huddersfield and work in Sheffield. My practice is AutoCAD and doesnt think that anyone else uses Revit.
