Simple Roof Help

I am starting into residential work. I am having a little bit of trouble with roofs. I can make them, but I can't seem to get my caveman mind around this little, simple roof.

Here are the initial problems...

Besides that it would be easier to create a couple of roofs and join them and cut out the overlapping portions.

Here's the file. Linework in roof plan and south elevation to describe the roof.

Okay, used two roofs. First 'main' roof. and second 'double left gable roof'.

Issues:
1. Why do I have to keep the edge of the second roof away from the edge of the main roof for them to join (bottom left corner doesn't clean properly)?
2. What do I have to do to get the right side of the opening in the main roof to connect to the right side of the dormer? If I try to move the opening sketch, the 'cannot join' error prevents me from continuing.

Not really. I appreciate it, though. It looks like you placed the roof sketches over the plan and didn't really use the roof join tool. Also the left side of the gable roof that is at 16/12 meets the 8/12 main roof incorrectly. Why in the world is this so hard?

Just wondering which roof you might have looked at.

I had move your roof over and placed the one I did over your walls.

Sorry for the problem. Split long line (which generates short dormer edge) into 2 lines in roof sketch, the problem seems to go away.
