I think this started with v8.0 I used to be able to cut 3/4" thick exterior trim (made as in-place families) into 3/4" thick siding using cut geometry. Now I can't, so visually, I don't get that white trim, I get a line because the the trim and the siding are sharing the same surfaces. (Not sure if this started prior to v8.0 because I've been using 1" trim recently). Yeah, I know the "split face" is an option, but I like making it real and also it shows up in plan view.
