Why in revit when moving a wall in an 8000 sq ft building by changing the dimension string can it take 5 minutes to do so? I am finding with revit that old buillding elements (ones that were created first) can take a seemingly incredible amount of time to change. I could probably delete the roof, write this post, move the wall, recreate the roof in less time than waiting for revit to figure out how to move the wall a matter of 9 inches.

Is this a problem others are having late in a projects design? I had this problem on a 180k sq ft facility and now am having it on this small 8k sq ft project, which is unacceptable. I am running an FX-55 processor and 4 gig of ram.

An amendum to this, revit is currently using 348 meg of ram to do this operation in 2d, one floor project

Ok - I love your avatar. If you like, I'll give you our FTP address so you can post your file. I'll have a look... those numbers are bizarre.

I have that kind of issue on many jobs, its very hard to figure out what causes it. send the file in so revit can figure it out.

On big projects or small ones? We've only seen problems with beeeg projects...

I am just now beginning construction documentation on this 8000 sq ft building and am having the problem.......on the other project i saw it at the start of construction documentation through the first few months of actual work on the drawings.

I have small projects that are way slower than big ones.

I just had a messy project with endless warnings!
After 30+ hours of manic error/trial I traced it down to walls/floors connecting/constraining
over a 30m area between 2 levels, because of one recessed floor in the upper one.

Removed room tags, cleaned up walls to meet with floors etc.
The model is behaving ok, and I´ve learned a lesson :)

try using the 'disjoin' option when moving the wall, and see if it goes faster. If so, there might be complex or conflicting contstriants making it bog down...
