Question about text - importing

Can you import text from a Word doc or Excell? I can't get AutoCAD text to copy & paste either. I was hoping for an easier way to do text rather than have to recreate everything with Revit Text. Any suggestions?

Select copy the text in Word.
In Revit, start the text tool with the required font and size ( place in view )
Paste into that view.

Virtually the same using Excel, but the grid lines do not copy across.
