Hi all!
I attach a wall created in Existing phase which hosts a window created in New phase.
The problem is that the external outline of the reveal is missing.
I have encountered this with pretty much all doors, windows etc. where the wall reveal is exposed (ie not lined).
What am I doing wrong?!? :(

It must be related to your white wall finishes.
Open your wall structure & change the finishes to something other than white, & the interior side shows correctly.
Also try inserting just an opening into your wall & you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for suggestion.
I tried different materials for the wall and inserted an opening but to no avail.
Are you able to send me an example of how you managed to get it to work?

Attached is your same model, with the walls changed to a plasterboard finish, and an opening inserted.
The edges show ok in a 3d shaded view, but fail to show in a hidden line elevation.
It may be related to the changes that took place in I think, in 5.0 on holes in walls when windows were demolished.
Maybe one of the Revit guys can clear this up.
There are still some things in phasing that don't appear to have been resolved in 6.0. Martin has found one of them I thonk - er think I think!!
I have had the following problems since 5.1
After creating an "original" phase wall and placing some "original" phase doors and windows in the wall - one then moves to say "demolition 01" phase and deletes some of those doors and windows - during which the wall "heals" and replaces the openings with the parent material from the "original" phase - are you all with me??
Now create a new phase - say "New work01" phase and insert new door or window elements etc. In 6.0 the wall accepts the elements but buries them in the "healed" wall material so they cannot be seen visually in views. The elements will appear in schedules, or in sections if cut thru in the right location or appear in 3D views - but not in elevation views.
Why not? Are we doing this incorrectly?
The work around that I have found is to demolish the entire öriginal"phase wall and its contained objects @ "demolition 01" phase and rebuild the wall along with the new objects in "New work01" - even better if the wall is not attached to cross walls or attached to roof or floor elements.
Has anyone else come across this or is it me (and perhaps a few others) that do crazy refurbishment work on existing structures and want to move the structure around a bit??
In 5.0 if a wall was extend and attached to either roof or floor or both it would not let the inserted object into the parent - however that is not the case now in 6.0. Sometimes detaching the "Original 01"phase from floor or roof would allowthe object to be inserted - however this is not always the case - sonetimes the tupe of corner join for the parent wall can also affect he result.
Comments and replies very welcome!!

Not just you. I have had this problem as well. if the doors are slightly out of alignment between phases then you can place a door in the newer phase, but it will only show up partially. strange.

I had the same question, it seems that you have to attach a material to the demo phase graphic override.
Have a look at the default project template that came with 6.0. It allready has the correct setup.
Nic M - I am not sure what you are referring to. Would you explain a little more please? :?

Hi Ita,
I tried to recreate your situation, but without using a separate phase for Demolition. ( Which could be causing the problem)
I created a wall in the existing phase with 2 doors and windows. I demolished 1 door and window and then created a new window in the New Construction phase.
All seems Ok to me. ( see image )

Ita,
If I understand you correct, you are trying to show all phases in one planview (existing, demo end new) right?
I also use two phases in my initial setup, as Beegee
one phase Existing
one phase New
In plan view draw a wall and set its phase to existing
Copy this floor plan to a new plan and set the view properties to phase New, phase filter is set to "show all"
In this view put a window in the existing wall.
If, in the Phases dialog, under the Graphic overrides tab you put the demolition material to blank, Then your new window in the existing wall will have an infill in the same wall material (see Phases.jpg)
If you set a material in the demolition override, Then the window displays correct. (if you added symbolic lines to your window familie).
But if you switch to an elevation view it doesn't show the existing window??? (see phases2)
Dont have a solution for that, we show it in two elevation plans.
Thankyou Nic M and beegee - food for thought. Let me play and I will come back if there is an issue.
