Sections now have a "Hide at scales coarser than X" parameter! Sweet :D

I can see myself using this all the time!

Good one Chris - Keep them coming!

I also just noticed the little circular arrows that allow you to cycle through the option of section head, section tail, and no symbol. The more you look the more you find!

And another...

It appears that holding the CTRL and the SHIFT when selecting reverts to the original selection method.

Good one Greg. I never would have found that one. Not sure if I'll ever use it. I like the new method of selection much better.

Have you seen the scale tool, yes there is a scale parameter now in the family editor when inserting a dwg. you can scale it and even make a parameter in the family to scale to.

Getting to use R6 on a daily basis I'm noticing more and more 'little' things that seem to have been tweaked.
Right click in a view and bring up the View Properties dialogue.
In R5 only the Visibility pull down is in the first window. In R6 both Visibility and View Range are there. I don't have to scroll down each time I open. Not a big deal, but it's all these little things added up which end up saving time.
Thanks development team and keep it up for R7 (along with the quantum leap enhancements, of course  )

Unfortunately, this is resolution dependent. On my monitor, only the first is "above the fold"

Greg,
Sound slike an excuse to get a better graphics card/monitor combination. :D
I'm working, full time, off a laptop with a 15 display @ 1024x768 resolution. Tested with resolutions up to 1600x1200 and down to 800x600 and get the same result.

actually, I've got an ATI Fire GL X1 on a Dell Ultrasharp 19" Flat Panel. Turns out it's not the resolution but the fact that I have additional parameters in my view dialog:

Detail Number
Sheet Number
Sheet Name
View Rotation on Sheet

which push them down. I suspect that when you actually place the view on a sheet, you will see this too.

Found another one! In 6.0 we now have the ability to control Color Fill Legend. Both font style & size, as well as the symbol size.

Yeah, you can streatch the legend to make it fit now, too. One column, two columns, three...

Make a parameter in the family to scale to?

Two little gems.
1. When you create a detail view (callout or section view) the scale automatically increments to the next scale value in your default list of scales. ie A building section cut at 1/4", insert a detail view and the scale will be set at 1/2". Create a callout in that view and it will be at 3/4" etc., etc.
2. Sections now work in sections too! When playing about with gem number 1, I cut a section through a project, then picked the section tool again and it generated a plan detail, again witht the scale incremented.

I got one too! pressing "tab" on an imported autocad drawing - it will autoselect lines just like normal revit ones - ie you can trace a boundary or whatever in one "tab" 8)

Another one I just noticed is the break line in the Section marker. It used to be that if you didn't want a continuous Section line going through the plan you had to go into properties and select "gaps in segments". Now there's a handy break mark in the section line which you can select without having to go into the properties dialogue box.

I think this is new to 6.0, when zoomed in on an area on a first floor plan and double click another floor plan level, it opens zoomed in at same area. Very helpful.

In perspective views, another tab is added to the Dynamic View Pallette:

 thought this thread was old, but its still going strong, started a new one with this (now deleted) ...

I spent about an hour flicking through the help file yesterday, which by the way is now extremely well laid out, and everything is really well explained, this is my first Revit gem - well done that person :) and I also found some very interesting things in there. (that you may or may not know of)

1. you can attach top/bottom of walls to a ref plane - I didnt know that, very handy.

2. read the section in the help/contents/families/dimensions/automatic sketch dimensions - you will have to read it to follow how useful these things are when creating a family, but basically you can make revit show you all the dimensions it uses to calculate geometry in a family.

This is probably one that has dawned on everyone but me, until today I thought it was a but that I couldnt de-select  ....but pressing ctrl will now only add to a selection, pressing shift will remove and pressing ctrl and shift is the old revit method. its miles better for selecting :)

This may have been around for awhile, but I just noticed it!

When I have made a roof by extrusion, I can now use an option in the options bar called Cut Plan Profile. It trims the geometry per plan lines that I draw.

This is fantastic when working on overframed barrel vaults!!!!

never wanted to show a + for positive elevations?

Scott D Davis
2004-04-29, 04:29 PM
Oh! Thats what you are showing! I couldn't find a message you were replying to regarding levels in this thread, so I didn't even notice the plus signs. I thought you were showing the offset elevation marker! (which has been around since 1.0 or 2.0?)

so...how did you do that?

In level head family, change the formatting of the label--there is a checkbox at the bottom of the dialog to show + for positive elevation values.

Its buried, but at least possible now...
