This was mentioned in another thread, but I think it's worthwhile to make a special thread for this. As Autodesk announces more CUI fixes, please add them here.
Autodesk's first CUI hotfix is now available (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=5575189&linkID=2475323).
This fixes 2 bugs. From the readme:
1. Editing a CUI file could introduce duplicate entries (IDs) that may cause the file to become corrupt. Loading the corrupt CUI file results in an error message stating that the file is invalid and you can no longer customize the file.
2. Upon converting a menu file that contains a screen menu, erroneous blank lines are added at the top of the screen menu section. This can affect the display of commands that appear toward the bottom of the screen menu.
It's a replacement 1.5 MB DLL that you are expected to download and copy into the right place. The instructions incorrectly refer to the download being a zip file. There is no indication about what to do with administrative images.
Autodesk was obviously in a rush to get this out to people as soon as possible, which is understandable. Thanks are due to Autodesk for beginning to address some of the CUI issues.

There is no indication about what to do with administrative images. If you set up the deploy image properly, you could simply add it to the patch list & have it apply a patch to the install (I think - I've never had to try this, but in theroy, this is supposed to work).

Thanks Mike, but they're all pointers to the same fix. (Although you may already know that). :)

Mike - Thanks, but I intended for this thread to be for links to CUI bug fixes, rather than my verbose pontifications on what's wrong with CUI. ;-)
More in line with the original intentions of the thread, I should mention that Shaan Hurley has now posted on his Between The Lines (http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/) blog a list of what will be fixed in the forthcoming SP1 for 2006 (http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/2005/08/autocad_2006_se.html). This includes the following CUI-related fixes:
Edit 2: List removed. See below for final list.
Edit: Oops, I see you started another thread with the above information. Never mind.

BTW, Steve, the article has a small error. Another file that is unchanged is the .mnl file. ;-)

According to the final readme, the CUI problems addressed in SP1 are:
Expanding the Toolbars node in the Customize User Interface dialog box (CUI) after you have migrated custom menus and toolbars from AutoCAD 2005 to AutoCAD 2006 no longer causes a fatal error.
The Customize User Interface dialog box now correctly imports full, partial, and custom menus from previous releases. (This update was released separately as Support Solution TS1052001.)
Display problems resulting from the transfer of legacy MNU or MNS files to AutoCAD 2006-based products have been corrected. This update affects labels in image tile menus and screen menus. (This update was released separately as Support Solution TS1052254.)
Screen menu aliases are now correctly migrated from earlier versions of the product.
Right-click menus are now available when the CUI file is loaded as an enterprise customization file and a partial menu is loaded as the main customization file.
Problems with opening CUI files that have duplicate macro IDs have been corrected.
The object snap menu (SHIFT+right-click) is now available when partial menus are loaded.
You now can delete a custom tool created in the Customize User Interface dialog box without causing an error the next time you try to edit the toolbar or tool palette to which it was added.
I think it's reasonably safe to assume that the other CUI issues will remain with us until AutoCAD 2007.
Hi Steve
Your article also points to Bug Fixes...
Yes, but they're fixes already mentioned in this thread.
BTW, Steve, the article has a small error. Another file that is unchanged is the .mnl file. ;-)
Ah, but I don't consider .mnl to be a menu file, but rather a menu-associated file. :p
