Wall and Generic Model visibility

I have a wall section detail where I'm showing a canopy bracket on a wall, but I want to turn off the wall in the section view (detailed w/ components), and have the bracket still showing. All my other wall sections showing the brackets works fine, but on this view, the bracket generic model disappears when I turn off Walls in visibility/graphics. What might cause this? As you can see by having the bracket highlighted, it is indeed a generic model family:

okay nevermind, that is very wierd.

I had the section cut line running right through the middle of the bracket, and when I turned off the Walls category, the Bracket generic model would also disappear.

When I shifted the cut line back along the wall slightly (so that the cut line views the bracket in elevation instead of cutting it), then it works fine. I can turn off the Walls category and the bracket remains visibile.
