At a recent UK user group meeting I'm sure I saw Sarah Cape rotate a section line in v6 demonstration. I can't seem to do it though, anyone know the step by step procedure?

Rhys,

I think Sarah eas showing this in an elevation or section view.
To have a rotated section line in these views you will need to use the
Detail View: Detail type section now avaiable in 6.0
Any othe type of section will only rotate in plan view

That works in plan view but not in elevation or section, I must have imagined seeing it done in the vertical plane

Thanks Phil I'll try that

Section views are constrained to be vertical (perpendifucal to the ground) however Detail views may be rotated out of vertical orientation. For example you should be able to use a Detail view to cut perpendicular to a roof.

Any one of the section options can be drawn at any angle in plan. A detail view section can be drawn at any angle in elevation. so there is no need to use rotate. a building section can only be drawn straight in elevation and you cannot rotate it. Hence use the detail view section option in elevation, if a section at an angle is reqiured

Ok thanks all - I was confusing detail sections with drafting sections. Didn't realize the 3 section options wall, building, detail, were on the drop down properties doh. Section perpendicular thro' roof was exactly what I was trying to do. Thanks Leonid
