That's one benefit of a larger company, we just tell our consultants what software to use and they follow suit :D

There's one in Los Angeles, Brandow and Johnston. Tom Weir from B & J posts here often.
We have set up another one of our Structural Engineers with LA CAD (local VAR - Value Added Reseller) and they are getting the "show" onn July 7th. Keeping my fingers crossed that they love what they see! They currently use eTabs and RISA in their office....so it seems like a perfect fit!
Also, I have gotton one of our MEP Engineers on the Systems Beta team....by this time next year, we hope to be one of the first firms in the area doing Buidling. Structures, and Systems in one complete project! Oh, and specifications linked to that project through E-specs! I can't WAIT to get that pilot project going!

We are Structural Engineers based in the UK (perhaps no good if your projects are in the US).
We have been using Revit since V2 and have contributed over the years to the developers with suggestions for the structural content.
We also run Xsteel and regularly build integrate these models into Revit.
Recently we have been importing StruCad models into Revit.
If you need a designer for the US then we probably can't help (insurance reasons - for some reason all insurers in the UK seem to think there is a higher risk of litigation in the US)
If you need help implementing structural content/solutions we may be able to provide some ideas.
visit www.lupton.co.uk or www.digital-contruction.net for more information.

SCA Consulting Engineers is a structural engineering firm located in Houston, Texas with a strong national base of experience that encompasses the business sectors of assisted living, commercial, financial, hospitality, healthcare, multi-family, and retail. We are currently involved in the design of numerous high-rise condominium projects across the United States and are thrilled with the collaboration between Revit and ETABS.
We participated in the beta testing for Revit Structure and are very interested in working with architects who are using Revit in the implementation of their design. There is no question that by consolidating our drafting and engineering efforts into a single model, we are working much more efficiently and I am convinced that Revit will replace AutoCad in our office by the end of the year.
Please visit our website to familiarize yourself with our firm and feel free to give me a call directly to discuss the possibility of working together.

Hmmm. I think our insurers here think the same thing. Have you seen our rates lately.

Hello all,
I am evaluating Revit Structure for a structural engineering firm, and would like to know your experience in the implementation of the program. All of our work is currently done with 2D Autocad.
1. Was there a shift in the workload for engineers and drafters? Are the models started by the engineers, and passed to drafters (after analysis and design is done) only to produce CDs? Or do the drafters start the models with preliminary assumed member sizes?
2. How long did the full implementation process take (factoring in the learning curve, etc.)? Do you use Revit alone or still in combination with Autocad?
3. Are most of your clients (architects) using Revit Building, or do they use another product to generate dwg files to be passed to you?
Thanks in advance for your input.
