I apologize if these issues have been previously delt with on this forum, but these items appear so frequently and make my production work so frustrating I just had to ask if anyone has suggestions as to how to circumvent the following issues or at least explain why they occur. Is it the way I construct my model or the program?

Thanks in Advance!

“Floor Sketch is Invaid” – A common floor editing pop up that will deny you the ability to delete certain lines defining a slab. Sometimes you can get around it by selecting multiple lines near the offending line or by isolating the offending lines and closing the slab perimeter geometry with your new boundary lines and them deleting the offending lines. This can require quite a bit of production time to get around as it occurs quite frequently. Shouldn’t the program be self correcting and that the correcting procedure be behind the scenes, rather than forcing the operator to search for a procedure to correct the problem. I never had this problem in 6.0.

“Line Direction is Inaccurate” a common pop up when mirroring an in place family and what are the consequences of an inaccurate line direction? I just close the window and keep on working. It never seems to affect the model and just interrupts my production requiring me to close the window. Again shouldn’t this be self correcting behind the scenes.

Floor Slab link to Walls - Quite often I get a pop up that indicates that the program wants to delete my floor when I move a wall that is abutting the slab. Some walls will automatically redefine the slab limits, some are disjoined from the wall but more often than not the program wants to delete the slab. This requires me to edit the slab by pulling the edges away from the wall, relocate the wall and then re-edit the slab. Why does the system want to delete the slab rather than automatically disjoining itself or just modify the slab?

Hi Cek,

Yes I get the "line has innacurate direction" message all the time.
It happens to me when using standard 2D lines, filled regions or when making 2D groups but has not yet happened with eg. floor sketches or roof sketches.
I have been wondering about its use and meaning for some time - although it has never resulted in a deleted line as yet ?

cheers

Hi Carl,

Element direction is inaccurate:

Problem: An element created by sketching a line (wall, model line, beam) is not aligned to a coordinate: x, y, or z. It is .2 degrees or less from perfect alignment.
Solution: There can be several solutions to this problem:

Angular snaps are turned off.
You are rotating the element with angular snaps turned off.
You have joined a beam between two columns and then you move one of the columns slightly, so that the columns are not perfectly aligned and are within the margin of error mentioned above.
Floor sketch is invalid: ( May also apply to " Floor Slab link to Walls " )

Problem: Revit Building failed to regenerate the floor geometry upon executing your last action.

Solution: You cannot ignore this command. You need to cancel it. This error might occur if you have sketched an opening in a floor and then locked that opening to another element, such as a wall. If you move the wall, the opening moves with it. If the opening should suddenly lose its host (the floor), this error would appear. You can edit the floor sketch and then attempt the command again.
