Hello everyone…

Okay, this is a weird one. I just returned from a week long vacation to find troubles at work (of course). The Architect that I work with still uses Release 14 and will not change. So, I do a lot of work in 2002 just for ease of conversion, and hopes that he will at least try to move up to that version. But, that’s another story.

Here’s the problem at hand. While in AutoCAD R14, he can no longer inherit hatch patterns for a new hatch process. I’ve tried it in 2002 and it works fine. From what I can tell, inheriting the existing hatch will give him a new hatch with a very large scale. Then some times it won’t render the hatch at all. I’m not sure what could be causing it to act this way.

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated… well, not any comments… let’s keep it clean. Thanks in advance.

Drew

I don't know if this helps but I have found (at least as far back as R14) that if an object is hatched then the object and hatch are scaled, properties inherited from that hatch include the original hatch scale; not the "scaled" hatch scale.

Take a look at system variables Measurement (<- this should be the one of real interest) and Measureinit.

Hi

Plus have a browse of the following thread in the AutoCAD FAQ (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=189) Forum -

I did notice that when looking at his listing of hatch patterns to choose from, they were all in lower case... Could it be... Dare I say it... so, maybe I need to go into his acad.pat file and change the case... huh?... do ya think that'll work?

Honest answer "Nope! I don't think that will work" but if you want to give it a go...

Try changing the MEASUREMENT variable value to 0 (I am guessing it is set to 1), then try inherit properties.
