View Full Version : Underlay not working?

I'm working on a second floor plan, and when I turn on the Ground Floor as the underlay in the plan view, the only thing I see in grayscale is the edge of the actual ground floor slab. I can't see any of the walls on the ground floor level. Even if I change the view range to include the ground floor below, I still can't see any of the ground floor walls as an underlay. What could be the problem?

This happens to me quite often actually, it seems like if I underlay a plan above where I am it works fine, but below has some issues...I would love to know why as well.

Well I've got problems with underlays above, too. If I'm on the ground floor, and I turn on the second floor as the underlay, the grayscale image I see looks like the Roof Plan (my roof plan has its cut plane about 40 ft. above the roof bearing level, or about 50 ft. above the second floor)! :screwy: I have to either select the grayscale roof and hide it, or turn off roofs in the view, to be able to see the 2nd floor walls in the underlay.

Can't replicate the problem here.
Could you post a small model that demontrates the issue?

I get this happening a lot too - have resorted to exporting a DWG of the view at at times.. Its not a new thing either, has happened as long as I can remember - but I am sure I saw a post here about how to resolve it? Might have Aaron that posted it, not certain though.

I am still getting this problem, has anybody got a solution?
When I underlay a view, half of the underlay doesnt appear? often almost none of it appears. I really need this tool at the moment I am doing foundation plans and have to know where the walls above are...
Is it simply a bug?

Doesn't always do the trick but try changing the view to wireframe.

I have to agree with Dimitri, try switching to wire frame instead of hidden line.

The "factory" dropped the Underlays "Level Above; Current Level; Level Below. Since R7.0 and added "Underlay Orientation".
Check that the "Underlay Orientation" is either set to plan or to Reflected Ceiling Plan depending on what you need to see. There is a big differnece between them.
In otherwords no problems here.
