Area plan color fills problem

in placing a color fill on an area plan I get the message "to allow color fills to display properly disabling visibility settings "floors, pads", of course then certain things display from level below, can anyone tell me why this is happening & how to avoid it?

I've always gotten that message - I assume it's part of the "feature".

If the floor (edit: i.e. walls, etc.) below is showing, check your Underlay and View Range settings.

floors would hide the color fill so they have to be turned off.

This one really does annoy me actually. Why can;t this be rewritten to work with the floors on. The big problem occurs when you want to show areas of external spaces. As soon as you turn the floor off you lose the "edge" to the doloue and have to add a detail line.
