Hello Reviteers,

Here's one to stump you: My coworker says, I need permissions to sheet A5-600. So I check, but I do not have A5-600 checked out. However, in my project browser, the "Make Workset Editable" function is greyed out for sheet A5-600; which would indicate I own it already.

-But I don't own it. Back to WORKSETS dialogue to check. nope, still don't own the sheet. And to prove this, I have to un-check the Editable Workset only button in order to start editing the sheet; but in keeping with the mystery, I don't get the Must Make Elements Editable pop-up after I edit something- which I should!

So after editing something, I attempt a full check-in so my coworkers can have rights to edit the sheet. All goes smoothly, I relinquish everything and once again show no permissions or Borrowing on the sheet. But to no avail, my coworker still can't get editing rights to the sheet??

This mystery is not just an academic issue, as my coworker needed to recreate the whole sheet in order to get an editable version. And this has happened twice. Although rare, this is a nasty problem. Anyone seen this before? Any other proposed solutions?

This happens frequently, not sure why but revit doesn't allways "give back" all the worksets when you STC and check all the boxes. The solution that typically works for me, it to have your coworker save to central and relinquish all he has. Then you reload latest workset, then you open the worksets dialog box check all 4 boxes at the bottom, then click ctrl+A, to select all workset(view, user, project, families) then make them editable, so now you own everything. do a STC. Then open the worksets dialog box again, select all the boxes and ctrl+A, then click non-editable, stc again.

this should do it.

Thanks for the reply Scott,

You know I swear that we really did all those steps. I was trying to be brief in message, but there was definitely a bunch of wasted time trying to get the worksets part correct.

Alas, we will try the exact order and steps of your method if/when this little bugaboo shows up again.

Thanks as always for the quick responses. AUGI Rocks!

I also find that when you use "Make Elements Editable" primarily that a second Save To Central is necessary to truly relinquish everything. You may notice, if you do a second STC right after doing a STC, that the check box for Borrowed Elements will be available to check.
