View Full Version : Baluster per tread?

I tried applying a railing to a spiral stair, and I only want one baluster per tread.

After I finally got the railing created (every railing except one custom that I created gave me a serious error, so I had to modify that custom one to make a new railing for the spiral stair), I tried to set the Use Baluster Per Tread and setting it to one, but what Revit actually created was some regular baluster spacing, of some random dimension, that gave 2 balusters on some treads, one baluster on other treads, and so on. I changed it to 2, and ended up with 4 or 5 balusters per tread.

I changed it to 0.5 and it totally locked up the program. :banghead:

Here's what I mean, as you can see it is clearly not one per tread.. the second tread from the bottom actually has 3 balusters on it.

And yes I had already hit Apply in that image.

Make sure your actual tread depth is set correctly in your stair properties.

Make sure your actual tread depth is set correctly in your stair properties.

Well, I don't know what the actual depth is supposed to be, since I don't know where it's measured on spiral or curving stairs. After drawing the stair run, I had to delete the risers it made and draw in my own to make them all 22.5 degrees.

In this case your actual tread depth would be the spacing for your balusters.
