I have searched the forums and can't find the answer that I am looking for.

I work for an Architectural firm and I am trying to convince them to switch to Revit. We currently have ADT 3.3, but they don't use any of the ADT features. The question I need answered is "How do you use old Acad drawing files in Revit when you are doing a renovation or addition to a building that is drawn in Acad (2D)?" Do you redraw everything in Revit? Is there another way? I'm sure that someone has experience with this.

Any information would help get a decision made.

Thanks!

File->Import->DWG

The dwg just sits there next to all the Revit drawing.

check REVIT interoperability with CAD on,

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=3782406

Also there are some reviews and papers on why to switch to REVIT...this should convince them

Thanks for the info. I also found a webcast on the AutoDesk website that addresses this. If you go to the product page for Revit Building and then to News and Events, there is a link for webcasts. If you go to the Technical Training Webcasts, there is one about how to use your old cad drawings and coordinate with Consultants that use cad. It was very informative.

Thanks again for the help.
