I am trying to draw an existing building using some existing plans we have. I scanned the plan sheet and made a JPG image of the floor plan, then brought the image into AutoCAD to get the scale of the image correct.

Then I imported the AutoCAD file with image into Revit, and it shows up fine when zoomed out, but when zooming in on certain areas, the image disappears. The plan is of an old Wal-Mart building, so it's pretty big (500-600 ft. wide). I tried extending level lines out farther, I tried turning on the crop region and pulling that out around the whole image, I tried moving elevation marks around, but I still have the same problem where if I zoom into anywhere but the middle of the image, the image disappears.

That would work much better...

Okay I imported the image into Revit, but can I not rotate the image just slightly? The image is a bit crooked from when it was scanned in.

The image is a bit crooked from when it was scanned in.Sorry, not at this time, just in 90 degree increments or flipping. I usually correct that issue in Photoshop first. If you don't use photoshop or similar then the AutoCAD route you took may make more sense.

Okay yeah I rotated it in Paint Shop... I brought it into Revit and drew a couple of lines and did a little trig figuring to see how much it needed to be rotated, then used the lines to figure what size the image needed to be to be the correct scale.

Now, is there a way to make an image scale with a view? I tried changing the scale of the plan view I was in and the image did not scale, it just remained the same real world dimensions. Do I have to go through the whole resizing and figuring process if I change the view scale?

...Do I have to go through the whole resizing and figuring process if I change the view scale?...Yes you do...best to decide the scale you want first eh? If you know what length one part of the image is, you only need to pick two points on the image and enter a length to resize it.

Ah I see... I was sitting there w/ the width and height in the image properties and going hmmm okay if these two points measure this much now, and I need to make them this much, then I have to multiply/divide the width by this number to make it the right scale.... :P
