Hi there!
I want to put a picture in a Elevation, I can do that without a problem but I want it in front of the building elevation and not in the backward where she goes always!
Any idea? or is just another function it will be able for the next versions of Revit?

A decal might do it - depends exactly what you are doing , of course.
Easy answer is to use photshop or similar.

Thanks but:
Decal do it only for rendering images! I want it that show in elevation for printing! That is the realy problem!
Exemple: create an elevation with pictures of trees or peoples in front of the building in wireframe or shaded mode!
The use of photoshop is a good option but the only problem is that i need to buy one more License :(

Import the image into acad. save as dwg. Then import into Revit as dwg. Now you have control of "foreground/background" of the image.

Great idea zeds. And for greater control of the image in acad, download the free software 'slingshot', which gives a much much better way of dealing with images.
The software simply sits on top of acad. You then get another pull down menu at the top and when inserted, the image has an actual acad frame to it, so scaling, rotating, moving etc are done using the regulalar acad commands.

How is that different from how ACAD usually works?...I've always been able to do that with images.

Really? Whenever I've inserted them in (using insert ole object) it comes in similar to how an image is dealt with in ms word? (ie: 9 grips around the image, but not useable with the standard acad commands)
Ok scrap that, I've just tried it on full acad 2006 and its how you describe it. Previously I have almost exclusively used acad LT. Maybe thats the difference?
Still, slingshot has a few other neat tricks up its sleeve. You can edit the frame around the image to any shape you want, consequently cropping etc. In addition you can adjust the transparency of the image and most importantly........ I have never had it display the image as an icon which I notice even using full acad it still seems to do even when the tick box is not checked to diaplay as an icon!
Man acad drives me nuts! Stick to revit!

in ACAD you can use images like xrefs...just type image and you will get the dialog for attach/detach, etc...
in 2000 all those commands are on the "reference" toolbar. it includes turning the frame on or off, turning on or off the transparency, cropping, and others...(see image attached)

6 years on we still can't do it (in Revit ie) - have to be decals in realistic view only!

When you highlight the image, just look in the options bar and chose "forground" instead of background. If your image is a .png with transparent backround it won't "whiteout" the model. I use images in elevations frequently for complex details that aren't easy to model.

Hey Scott,
What kind of images do you use in Elevations (other than logos etc.)?
Thanks
(Are you speaking at AU this year?)

Art, Carved objects, Here is one example on a recent project that we had turtle and starfish decorative medallions.
No I'm not going to AU this year, I heard RTC was so good that unless someone pays for me to go to AU, I'm going to skip it.

Hey Scott,
Nice technique!
Yes, RTC was a great event! And I said the same thing about AU.....then they accepted my class proposal after they attended my class at the RTC.
I will miss you at AU!
