IMHO, I don't think Vault is a necessity. If you're savvy with project files, you can still navigate handily without installing Vault.

Although having run both Vaulted and non-Vaulted projects, I can say that I do like some of the advantages that Vault brings (especially copy design), and that once configured, it can really streamline things.

I would like to see some opinions on the necessity of using Vault.
We have just started using Vault as our design department has expanded from 2-3 designers, plus the CAM department also requires access to files for machining. I found it far more useful when the designers were able to control the release of data to the shop floor from within Vault.
