View Full Version : plan region glitch?
is it just me or is this a major bug
try this simple excercise, create a simple plan 2 stories (even a square would do) now create a floor in the 1st floor larger than the actual walls and then create a plan region on the second floor somewhere
set the cut height in the plan region to anything other than the corresponding floors cut height, you'll notice that once done the floor from the first floor shows up in the second floor
the glitch is more apparent if you had 3 or 4 floors, if you placed a plan region in the 4th floor ALL floors from lower levels show up
whats up with that?
by the way i do have the latest build

I can confirm that behaviour. It does seem like a glitch. I'll look further when I get some time.

This sounds like the same issue I addressed in this post: http://www.zoogdesign.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2169&highlight=plan+region
I'm hoping there's an answer I'm just not seeing, because Plan Regions is supposed to be one of the "sellilng points" to release 6.

This is what I'm seeing.
The floor slab is drawn at Level 1 and does not appear in a "normal " Level 2 view.
The clip plane for the parent level is @ 1200 mm.
When the plan region is added and the clip plane chenged to 1500 mm, the slab at Level 1 appears.

I'm having the same behaviour.
It seems only to affect floor elements.

I've got it as well. I'm also having problems with roof soffits showing up in views they shouldn't be seen in.
I plan to submit this issue to client support, I urge each of you to do the same.

This was a bad bug with a simple fix. Thanks to all of you we've found it and fixed it. Hopefully it will make it into the next 6.0 build. There aren't any great work arounds besides turning off surface patterns, using filled regions, turning off visibility, etc. Unfortunately it's not just floors that can show up unexpectedly when overlapping with a plan region.

This was a bad bug with a simple fix.
How simple is simple? Would it be possible to just issue a patch?

Nice to know a fix is on the way.
Thanks for that.

Any further word on when this might be fixed ?
Its a real PITA on a current project.
( I guess what I'm asking is will there be a new build released before 6.1 . ?? )

I agree it's a PITA and would like to see a release just to fix this problem too.
I encounter it about every 3 projects. :x

FIXED IN 6.1
( No, we didn't doubt for a moment that it would be ... )

FIXED IN 6.1
One remaining issue is that floor patterns still show up in the plan region even if the bottom of the region is set above the floor surface. This doesn't seem to be a plan region issue, but rather a view range issue. If I change the view range in a regular view (one without a plan region) to any distance above the Associated Plane the boundary lines of low walls, etc. below that range disappear, but floor patterns remain.

I think this is meant to be ...from the help file...
Model elements located beyond the [View Depth; Top Clip] range (visible range) are not shown in the view.
Exceptions: Floors, stairs and ramps, and components that stay or are mounted on the floor (like furniture) are shown even when slightly below the visible range.
You can test this, the floor will disappear when the cut region bottom is above 4'0", but is visible below this height.

I can understand the logic there. It would be nice to be able to override that default "tolerance" when using a plan region though. Perhaps a check box option in the plan region properties that would be controlled on a case by case basis.
