Curtain Wall Mullions

We are trying to create a new curtain mullion type and see that it is a profile, but we can't find the existing profile to change in the library and the existing ones cannot be save to the library. Is there a way to change them or what profile template should we use?

Curtain wall mullions are a system family. This means they don't exist outside the project. Now these mullions can be associated with an external profile family which replaces the system family with the profile lines of the profile family. These are part of the Revit library content and when installed as stand alone are installed in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit Building 8\Imperial Library\Profiles (or Metric Library as the case may be)

These files when installed are set to "read only" and you must change them before you try to edit them or better yet, set up your own office content folder structure, mimicking Revit's so you can store your custom content there.

Last, these profile familes can contain a detail component that represents the construction detail of the mullion. If this detail component is imported into the profile family and if the visiblity of it is set to display only in fine detail level, you'll be able to show the true "shop drawing" level of detail for the profile in a view that use Fine detail level.
