Hi!
I have found it difficult to cut a section through in-drawing families. Eg. When i cut a section through cabinetry i have discovered that the section view displays the family as a whole. I tried to adjust the section view range but still displays the object as a whole rather than cut it.
I have discovered the only way to overcome this problem is to create the family with individual parts. The problem with this is that its very time consuming, there must be an easier way.
Thanks

I've had the same issue and the only way I've made it work is the same way you have I assume. I had to assign bits to different categories so I could turn them off as necessary in order to achieve the section.
Very annoying.

Yes i find it difficult, also when the drawing has alot of components it tends to lag the drawing which in turn effects the functionality.
Even when i import the family Revit still finds it difficult to achieve the section.

Casework families should show as cut, there are families that do not. Are you certain you've created the families using the casework category? Have you looked at the stock casework content to see how they build them? Just wondering?

I'm not sure about the casework families, as the program is still fairly new within the our company we dont have standards yet so families have been created different for different users
Thanks for information.

I'm not sure about the casework families, as the program is still fairly new within the our company we dont have standards yet so families have been created different for different usersAll Revit objects are one category or another, take a look at menu item: Settings > Objects Styles. You will see a list of all the Revit categories. The lineweight information under the column heading CUT shows you which objects can be "cut" or not. (see attached image)
If you are building these families inside your project they can still be assigned to the proper category. If you are, you should seriously consider building these outside the project as actual Revit Families. Check the Casework folder in your Imperial or Metric library to see how Autodesk builds these for a good grounding in the basics. Also check out menu item: Help > Tutorials (see image)
