Another solution to look at is CAD Translate from http://www.sdicgm.com (http://www.sdicgm.com/)
Here is a special link to download their trail:
http://www.sdicgm.com/downloads/CAD_Translate.exe
Their stuff is high-end.

After reading all the link it looks like the right answer is to just fork out the $499.00 for a copy of Adobe Illustrator CS2.
PDF to DWG is an issue that will not go away until more companies realize that sharing drawings is rarely going to lose you any intellectual property. More times than not you will have tracking for who you sent the drawings to and anyone they send them to (ie: sub-contractors, venders, etc) can usually be tracked, also.

Thanks in advanceHi there, Christopher I'm going to move this from the AutoCAD General forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here. Thank you.

I still love to use Adobe Illustrator and export to CAD. If yo go that route buy the Adobe package that contains Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator. It's the best deal then buying each independently. Thing to note you will need to do some clean up after the exporting. Most of the lines, you will have, will be splines. You should convert to plines to shrink the drawing size also purge, repair, and audit the drawing you convert.
There is no free lunch in the PDF to DWG conversion. Just lots of work arounds

pdf2cad goes from PDF to DXF. As long as the PDF is a vector file, it will convert into editable text and objects. www.pdf2cad.com

I used to add OLE in DWG from PDF's. But you can also try some 3rd party converters as AutoCAD cannnt convert PDF into DWG yet. There is AutoDWG converter that my colleagues are using and you can get a try.
