Our company has recentley received our version of Revit 8 but hesitated to install the upgrade.

Have there been any challenges or bugs which have occured?Is it ok to upgrade now?
Are there any patches to solve these issues?

No worries...water's fine...but you might want to wait just a little longer...hint...have you noticed the Revit 8.x threads?

How often does Revit release patches and downloads?Revit's team is quite aggresive about providing a new build when issues arise that only a new build will resolve. We've seen at least two builds with 8.0 so far if I'm not dazed and confused...no guarantees on that bit.

The historical evidence suggests it reasonable to expect two major releases (new builds aren't part of this number) per year and we have had one major release so far this year.
