We are working on a project with a client requirement to show notes and dimensions in both English and Chinese on the same drawing sheet. We have often been seeing the improper display of the Chinese text on many of these drawings. Below, I describe our latest occurrence of the problem.

We have a drawing format for this project where both English and Chinese text are shown. When we call up the drawing format directly into AutoCAD, all text displays correctly. When we insert the drawing format as a block into another drawing, odd characters (neither typical English, nor Chinese) show up in place of Chinese text. If we save out the entire drawing as a block and reopen the drawing, the Chinese text is again displayed correctly.

Are the any ideas out there as to how I can get the Chinese text to be displayed correctly the first time and every time I retrieve such drawings?

Do all computers involved have the same fonts installed?

You probably have a Bigfont-based text style (possibly based on Chineset.shx) called in your Format (template file?) but a different style (possibly of the same name) in the other drawings.
When you can see all text correctly use the "style" command to see what styles are defined in the drawing.

Have a good one, Mike
