Hi, i work in a office with 4 drafters and i am the one that knows the most about cad and how to use it. I was put in charge or putting together a standard detail library for our company. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i would go about doing this.
Thanks

Hi
Below are just a few ideas...
* DesignCenter
* Image Menus
* Pull Down Menus
* Toolbars
* Tool Palettes
* Via a web interface using i-drop technology
Have a good one, Mike

I also have the task of setting up our library. We have many common off the shelf parts. Our library is setup by catagories and read only. They are submitted, checked and released for use. So on and so forth.

As Mike points out there are many different ways you can go about doing this. It appears your library is all ready organized for you, one job you don't have to do. I have found using the tool pallet an easy way to access and organize block libraries. Simply set up a pallet for each category and from the design center drag each block on to the proper pallet, then open the properties for that block and set the variables. After you have your pallets set up on your machine, export them to a location the others in your group can access and have them import your new pallets into their system. Bingo your off and running.
Hope this helps

We did this once at a company I used to work for. Because other, non-CAD people (engineers, designers, architects) would be the ones specifying which detail to use in drawings, we put together a book of details for them to thumb through. Then we used the plotstamp to reference the detail.

Going thru the same exercise, I'm taking a two pronged approach, tool palettes for my users and for the non-CAD types a book to reference when specifying details, seems to be working well so far....

I too am doing a detail library or more to the point I am attempting to enhance it.
Maybe I am asking to much from ADT but what I want to happen is after one of us drafters inserts a detail, and without exploding it, edits block in place it modifies the original block that resides on the server.
This way the original blocks can be updated by everyone and then exploded for modifying per job requirements.

~ nods ~ I think you "asking too much" of the software...
One word - Xrefs.
Have a good one, Mike

Hi
I have been volunteered to do the same things as in create a company wide library.
I have been testing the tool palettes option and do think that it not bad.
Although I was OK at just copying and pasting from one drawing file to another before but tool palettes must be easire I guess.
One problem I have though is that some of the icon I have created vary in size so the palette looks a little poor to issue to my company.
I have no idea whats causing this appearance and hope that someone out there can give me a really easy fix.
Thanks
