Sub-category for floor?

In the Vis. Graphics under object styles I can make a new sub-category for floors, my question is does this become a sub-category for all the floors or can I apply this to any floor I want. When I switch this sub-category off I cant see what effect this has.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Only applicable to in-place families. Not system families.
