there sure is, do a search on this group for it, basically you just split the line of the gable end of the roof in two places equal dist from the center, then place a slope arrrow facing toward the roof, set the tail offset to the hieght above the fascia you wan the gable to start at and set the slope.

Check out this tutorial...

By Dutch Gable are you refering to a gambrel or two pitch roof (like you see in Barns in the USA) or the portion of a gable end of a roof that has a smaller pitched section. Dutch Gable, when I think of it means the gambrel roof... This type of roof is can be done pretty well as a Roof by Extrusion. For another approach...you can also do them as an in-place roof family, either a sweep or extrusion.

I've always understood a Dutch Gable to be a roof that starts on the low-side as a hip. Then, as it approaches the ridge, it switches to a gable.

The first roof in the tutorial covers the type Mike describes.

btw, deja vu...I went into this in a thread at the Autodesk Revit ng's... Mike's explanation seems to be consistent with what most folks think of when talking about a dutch gable. I'm confusing gambrel with it...

This is what I get when I "google" (a verb now eh) dutch gable...

Should be able to easily accomplish the Dutch Gable using the Cutoff Level function and 2 roof elements.

Your right Patrick. It’s usually easier to create 3 different roofs that one complex roof. After creating the 3 roofs, remember to use the join geometry tool to clean up any unnecessary lines usually seen on elevations and sections. .
