Does Revit 6 run on XP 64 and if it does will it run as a 64 bit application. If not when will it. I know that Datacad 11 is 64 bit .

I am finding 1.4 gig sytem slow even with new 128Mb graphics card.
Looking to replace it with an up to date box.

There was another thread on this today. Check the recent articles. The short answer is that Revit and all Windows programs do not take advantage of 64 bit. Until Windows takes advantage of it, I don't think it matters if the programs do. Jeffrey?

I'd personally wait on the 64 bit. Serously, when has Microsoft ever gotten something right on thier first try? Windows Server has a 64-bit version, but it's still beta for the AMD stuff and not 'offical' just yet IIRC. Intel's 64 bit efforts have been less-than-steller in the past, too. It won't be until later this year that XP 64 will be a viable system, IMHO, and it will take a while before any programs make use of it, for I doubt that AutoDesk wants to make a 32 & 64 version of thier products- they probably will wait until there are more 64 bit machines out there in the world prior to moving thier stuff over, for all those subscription customers would probably complain loudly if AutoDesk suddently made them all buy new hardware. :)

So if you wait until later in the year to buy your new system, so that you can see what's really available for that system, I think you'd be better off. Right now the only people I know using those 64 bit systems are Linux geeks and Apple users. :P
