Is there a setting that controls whether or not AutoCAD draws a hatch inside or outside a boundary? Opened a drawing today (drawn by someone else) and whenever I try to hatch within a plined rectangle, AutoCAD hatches everything outside the rectangle instead causing my CAD to crash. Help?

I am using AutoCAD 2006 and I do not have an advanced tab available for bhatch.

It's the little button next to the Help button in the lower right corner of the hatch dialog. Looks like >.

It's easy to miss, doesn't exactly look like a standard expansion button (you'll also notice similar in the plot dialog), so don't be too hard on yourself.

Cool. Thanks.

Now, would anyone happen to know why my CAD crashes every single time I try to hatch?

In the island detection setting, what should be ticked?

Are the boundary objects in an XREF or local objects within the DWG?

The boundary objets are localized within my dwg file. It is rectangular closed pline. Associative hatch is turned on. ANSI 31 is the hatch style. There IS an Xref within this dwg file, but it is not really related to the hatch problem.

you may have to post a dwg so we can see exactly whats going on.... but you should be able to use "normal"...or even turn the island detection off?....

True dat. True dat. I'll start working on posting a dwg asap.
