Scale and Symbols

What would be the best approach to create a site symbol which would need to have a fixed (or real world) dimension for the boundary of theobject but have the, preferably embedded with family symbol, text size variable for the differing scale it is viewed in.

Symbols don't seem to allow you to specify actual dimensions for objects and have the text size remain independent. If I use nested families the control of the visibility of the object and text is separate. ie. switch off the object but the text remains visible.

It would also need the ability to have the symbol and text linked so that when the visibility for the object is switched off the text goes off with it as well.

Any ideas appreciated.

One method which seems satisfactory is to create the object and a tag separately. Then insert the object and assign a tag in the required views. Thanks for any consideration.
