door/window assemblies with shutters

Shutters are so easy to create with a normal window, but to add shutters to just the outside of twin or triple double hung windows I'm assuming you would need another infill. Has anyone done this? I'm not sure exactly how to do this since I'm not terribly comfortable yet with door/window assemblies.
