I must be loosing it, I have a simple schedule which has s.f. take-offs from a plan, I want to multiply these s.f. quantities by a cost per s.f. so i have a total in the last cell. it would be like this:

Room Name Area (s.f.) Cost Per s.f. Total Cost
Living Room 400 $80 (how is this cell set up)
it should read $32,000

Maybe i didn't get enough sleep or something last night but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ignore the body information, i lost the formatting, basically, how is the formula written to simply multiply area s.f. by a unit cost, thats all I'm trying to do.

Like this??
Shouldn't the formula just say Area * Cost SF ?

I noticed this works if your s.f. cost is good for all items in the schedule, but how would you apply different s.f. costs for different rooms that are in the same schedule?

Also, the schedule has a total cost, but its round out to 5 decimal places! Hehe, how can i cut this back to zero?

Responses:

Lugi - The reason to divide Area /1SF is to take the area down to a number rather than an area. Areas in Revit have either SF or M included with them. Trying to multiply and area by a number will either give another area or inconsistent units error.

sfraney - To take cost back to 2 decimal places you need to over-ride your project units. In the schedule properties tab "formatting" chose the field in question, click on "field format", uncheck (untick) the "use default settings" box and apply a format of fixed 2 decimal places (or what ever you want).

To apply different SF cost to different types of rooms, that is best done by using a Schedule Key. Schedule Keys are database lookup tables inside Revit that allow you to predefine certain things about an object.
