How does one get the fascia to be 90 degrees to the plane of the roof?

If you set the rafter cut (roof properties dialog) to two-cut square, and then set the facia depth to the thickness of your roof, you'll get the roof edge 90° to the roof plane. Then, when you place your facia, it should follow.

Also, once the facia is placed, you can highlight it, go to properties, and adjust the angle there, relative to it's placement position.
