We did a little experiment with a small file.
I opened an 8.0 file in 8.1 and saved it.
Then we tried to open it up with 8.0. Could not do it.

This was the error we got:
The file 'Test8-1to8-0.rvt' was saved in a later version of Autodesk Revit and cannot be retrieved in this version.

This really is'nt a problem unless you have consultants that are not
on subscription and always wait to upgrade till they have to.

So is there a way to save down?

thx
Mark

No, as always, there is no way to save down. In the release notes of 8.1, it states that files in 8.1 are not compatible with 8.0. On the download page of Revit 8.1 in RED letters, it states that 8.1 projects cannot be opened in 8.0.

This is for everyone: Do NOT open an 8.0 or earlier file in Revit 8.1 and save it, unless you are confident that your copy of 8.1 is licensed and fully functioning, and all those that you work with in Revit also have 8.1 installed, license, and functioning.

There is no SAVEAS in any version of Revit to earlier versions.
