I am creating a wall hosted plumbing fixture for a 2 station lav. I opened a new plumbing fixture wall hosted family and imported a 2d dwg block from autocad and partially exploded the inported dwg object. I located the imported dwg at the placement side on the face of the wall.

The problem is when I insert the fixture as a component it only inserts at the face of the wall on generic walls but when inserting the component on a masonry wall it places the component at the center of the wall rather than the face.

Why is this happening? My preference is to place the component on the face of the wall no matter what type of wall.

Thanks.

Mes, check, when you align that you are aligning to the REF plane and not the wall itself.
Either use TAB to filter the selections or just select and drag the Ref plane that runs along the wall, and pull it into sight, to make sure.

I usually bring in different wall types into the family editor to see how the family will react to different walls. Try this and you will probably be able to figure out what you need to do for the placement.

This is a must. Always have Wall 1 and Wall 2 in your templates so you can flex the family for wall width changes...

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely do that.
