Got a problem where the new installer ( CD ver RevitBuilding8.1_20050804_0100) is putting the Start Menu folders and shortcuts, the desktop shortcut, and the icon picture source files under the profile (Ex. for icon source %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Installer\{7EBC0489-5E47-498D-BE31-B094484612E9}\ProductIcon_Building) of the person installing the application, rather than where they should be under "All Users". The icons for the file associations are wrong as well.

This is a annoying problem since you must take the time to relocate the shortcuts and repath the icons on every machine. It has now happened on both Win2000 and WinXP machines.

Is this a known problem with a fix? I searched and found no similar items, so I must presume all of you are installing it for yourself only and you are admins on the box...... Yes/No?

Thanks for any and all help,
John

We are also having the same problems. Our network admin is installing our standalone Revit Series 8.1 with the same result. We are using Win 2000 Sever and Win XP , SP2 on the workstations.

Any solutions / suggestions ???

Are you using the CD or the web install? If it's the CD, maybe it's worth trying the newest build (20050825_0100) from the web? But I don't know if that fixes the problem or not...

Problem appears to be happening with both the CD and the latest web build.

Some clarification from the factory would be appreciated.

Word I have from our account manager is the factory is aware, has taken interest and a new build may be in the near future.

All recent 8.1 builds of Revit are apparently affected..... CD, and both version downloads.

We have downloaded and installed the latest build and it has now fixed this problem.
