Am I missing something or do I really have to number each parking bay.
Tag all not Tag doesn't number them for me. Please tell me there is an easier way! as I have a site with over 3000 bays. :(

I don't see one, I'm working on a parking layout right now....

The only saving is that if you do a schedule and just type the numbers down it numbers them corectly, but that may relate to creation order.

In parking spaces, the "mark" parameter doesn't advance as each space is placed, like it does in door & window families.

Don't know the reason. Maybe a factory guy can answer this.

There is no way--even if the mark was filled out automatically, chances are you'd have to manually edit the values as the layout changed. (At least you can edit the mark directly or via a schedule) The process of re-numbering tags is still manual task. What would be nice is some quick and easy means of renumbering tags in any given view. Think door, window, and room tags.

Curious, how much time are you spending renumbering these tags?

That would be a great feature.

A lot.

Even if, in the schedule, we could renumber the first two, & then drag down through the column, ala Excel, and have the balance fill in at that pattern.

I like that idea - I always end up re numbering. The ability to increment a series of doors or windows from a given starting point would help.

Thanx for your replies! I did find though if you place and schedule the first bay, the bays after if numbered in the schedule still follow order. the time consuming part is I have to do 1 to 3000.

Silly I know but couldn't you just number every 10 or 100 bays I'd expect builders to be able to count between them themselves :)

Not silly Rhys. I dont understand why you would need to schedule a parking bay.

You should number only the first and last in each bay. Let the builder count in between.

The first parking space in each new bay gets a new consec number derived from (one plus) the (previous last bay number).

...the way I'v always done my parking is to place a number in the last space that totals the count for that row.

Then in the drive lane I'll place a symbol with the count for the total for the adjacent rows of parking.

This helps with retail as tenats want to know what amount of parking is available adjacent to their shop.

So what I'd like is a tag/schedule that counts in a defined area. Something like the plan region tool would be perfect.

It would be a nice feature to renumber from a beginning point and be able to increment tag numbers (ala ADT).

To defend Shaun, I frequently have requests from municipalieis to schedule parking and to incrementally number (no skipping) parking spaces so that they do not have to do the math. I have had 2 sets of plans sent back because we skipped blocks of parking space numbers. We commonly do that in case we have to add or subtract spaces, then we do not have to renumber the entire lot. Some plan checkers don't like that.

Anyway the renumber tag feature would be nice.

With an API we could probably whack it out in 10 minutes...

Sorry I forgot to mention how our backward thinking council works here. To get our Council Approval we need every freekin bay numbered and scheduled which must correspond to area formulas. Back in the days we just wrote Lisps to sort it out for us!!

I remember 'back in the days' when the folks employed by municipal authorities would actually spend five minutes counting to confirm the number of parking stalls rather than 45 minutes writing the memo, e-mailing it to us, and calling to confirm that we received the e-mail, to inform us that our submission is not in compliance with regulation XYZ on page 3,334,456,256 of the 'Submission Guidelines and Requirements'!!

Ok, 10 minutes starts.... NOW. ;)

(just reviving an old thread, now that there is an API)

Has anyone made any progress on numbering parking stalls?
