Schedule Help Needed

Hi all,

I'm new here & new to revit.

I'm trying to do a door schedule with the opening hand is there any way to pick up the if the door is left hand or right hand

Not automatically as I assume you are asking. You can add a custom field and fill out the information manually.

One thing I've done that works well is the following:

Before you set any doors in your project, add a shared parameter (text type) to your door family called "swing" or whatever you want to call it, as an instance parameter.

Load the door family into your project.

Set two instances of the door in your project, one left-hand, and one right-hand. Go to properties of the left-hand door & and type in the swing parameter value as left. Go to the properties of the right-hand door & type in the swing parameter value as right.

Place more of each of the doors (lefts & rights). Check the properties of each & notice the swing parameter follows the two original doors. Try flipping a left had door to the right. Notice it parameter changes.

Don't ask me why it works, but it does. Most likely remembers the last placement of that instance & uses that swing parameter value by default.

Note however, if you go into properties and re-type in a new parameter value, it blows up, & won't follow when you flip the door.

thanks andrew that works well I don't understand why it not a defualt feature of the program but thanks for the work around.
