View Full Version : Lines not exporting

I just exported out to a DWG file from Revit. I usually don't open the file to check it but I did with this one and noticed that some linework didn't export.
The view was Hidden Line but after changing it to Wireframe it exported properly.
I hate to think how many other files I have exported have had missing info . Wireframe is not what I wanted but was the only way.

I would expect when exporting to have the DWG file have all the same info as when viewed in Revit.

Anyone else experience this :?:

I'd get this to support asap. I've given them a file (8.1) which is exporting with all sorts of corruption. This is very, very, very bad as the deliverables are to be in AutoCAD 2000 format. Cleaning up the drawings manually will kill me and the project.

Funny that export using OpenDWG pre-ADSK days was flawless. Now that they are one big happy family - export quality has declined.

I'll post my project tomorrow...

We've also had issues with certain elements not exporting in 8.0

No issues with 8.1 yet but we haven't done much issuing yet...

The file is now with Support.

Chris: Have you received any serials for 8.1 yet? I noticed when creating this new support request that they have now added Revit 8.1 to the list of software.

AutoCAD files exported from Revit are not to be trusted. I exported 4 house plans from Revit and then tried to place these plans into a single AutoCAD file. As soon as I inserted the Revit AutoCAD files they corrupted. There was no way to predict where elements would end up. A roof would shift twenty feet to one side and balconies ended up all over the place. Cost me many wasted hours. Autodesk talks a good show about coordination between AutoCAD and Revit but in reality it doesn't work.

You'll see in the attcahed, the Revit file is printing perfectly.

The DWG export is a real mess.

You cannot take separate Revit exported DWGs, and insert them as blocks into one drawing. The Revit exported files will use the same block names/origins, so when you try and put them together, the blocks in one drawing will use the base point of the same-name block in the file, thus scattering objects.

There is an easy fix...open each DWG first, explode everything, then save. Now you can safely put those DWGs together in one drawing.

I thought the block insertion point, base point and rotation issue had been fixed or did they just fix the block name issue?

Now that 8.1 is available to the rest of us, I can confirm that this is still a problem.

Warning to everyone exporting their projects to DWG.

Check your exported files carefully!!

I have just exported another project, and have found that up to half of some view information is missing and information that was invisible has shown/exported.
The only way I know around it at the moment is to change the views to wireframe before exporting.
